Laurel police arrest man in kidnapping, rape case

LAUREL, Miss. (AP) — Laurel police have arrested a 35-year-old man accused of kidnapped his ex-girlfriend at knife-point on Sunday. Police say the victim was held against her will at the man’s home until Tuesday when she was able to make her escape.
Authorities say she ran to a neighbor’s house, who then took her to the police station.

WDAM TV reports (http://bit.ly/1IN2xa6) Christopher McCarty has been charged with kidnapping, rape and aggravated domestic assault. He made his initial appearance Wednesday before Laurel Municipal Court Judge Kyle Robertson, who set his bond at $250,000.
Police says there was an order for McCarty not to have contact with the alleged victim before the attack took place.
Online jail records do not list an attorney for McCarty.
