Athletes make big plays as Northeast stays unbeaten

Michael McClinton and Kam Hulin were a tag team that proved too much for Southeast Lauderdale as Northeast Lauderdale rolled to a 49-7 win Friday night in Lauderdale County prep football action.

McClinton rushed 17 times for 92 yards and three touchdowns, while Hulin was 9 of 13 in passing for 177 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball 11 times for 114 yards and a score.
Chris Hardy got in on the scoring for Northeast Lauderdale by catching four passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Jaquarius Barron caught three passes for 100 yards and one touchdown.
For Southeast Lauderdale, Malik Miller had 44 yards on nine rushes, and AJ Bush finished with 10 carries for 63 yards. Defensively, Daquarius Ruffin had six tackles and four assists to lead the Tigers.
LAMAR VS. NEWTON
Coming off two straight defeats, Lamar got just what it needed against Newton Friday night in a game that snowballed for the Raiders in the opening frame as Lamar took a 53-0 victory.
Before the start of the second quarter, Lamar had taken a 40-0 after scoring six touchdowns in the first. Two of those came courtesy of Jacob Partridge on passes of 26 and 40 yards from Joseph Hutchinson. Hutchinson also had a 5-yard touchdown run, and Daulton Nelson and Brooks Brock scored on runs of 15 and 1 yards, respectively. Jake Davidson also caught a 32-yard touchdown pass.

In the second quarter, Lamar scored two more times on runs by Zach Honeycutt of 2 and 14 yards.
Hutchinson was 11-for-15 in passing for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Partridge had four catches for 88 yards but hurt his ankle after his second touchdown and is scheduled to have an MRI Tuesday. Nelson led Lamar in rushing with 71 yards on eight carries.
For Newton, sophomore quarterback Lawrence Morris was 8 of 15 in passing for 56 yards.
MERIDIAN
Quarterback Tevarrius Adams had a productive game for the Wildcats, but it wasn’t enough as Meridian dropped a 49-10 contest to Central of Phenix City, Alabama, Friday night.
Adams finished 6 of 11 in passing for 84 yards and also rushed 19 times for 132 yards for Meridian. Drek Mosley added 78 rushing yards on 18 attempts, and defensive end Jamond Gordon had a 2-yard touchdown carry when the Wildcats decided to line him up at running back on the goal line.
Dwayne Cox had a 62-yard pass reception, and Mosley caught two passes for 10 yards. Nash Acton connected on a 38-yard field goal.
Juleon Selvie led the Wildcats defensively with 11 tackles.
RUSSELL CHRISTIAN
Another week, another blowout win for the Warriors as Russell Christian Academy pounded Ezekiel Academy 54-20 in eight-man action.
Jared McMullen had another 100-yard game as he caught four passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns to lead RCA. Seger Moore led RCA in rushing with 77 yards and two touchdowns on four attempts. Quarterback Caleb Taylor was 6 of 8 in passing for 126 yards and two touchdowns, and he also ran the ball four times for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Aaron Brinson finished with 10 tackles to lead RCA. Taylor Wood had eight tackles, and Vincent Reynolds tallied six tackles and an interception return for a touchdown.
WEST LAUDERDALE
Austin Davidson went 11 of 16 for 198 yards and two touchdowns for West Lauderdale as the Knights defeated Leake Central 28-10.
Jason McKinney led the Knights in receiving, hauling in six catches for 108 yards. TJ Hersey had two catches for 56 yards. Senior Taylor Turnage tallied 66 yards on 16 rushes, and Davidson added 42 yards on the ground on 17 attempts.
CLARKDALE
The Bulldogs are still searching for their first win following a 46-12 loss to Lake Friday night.
Ethan Gunter had two catches for 23 yards on offense and three tackles and a pass breakup on defense. Landon Conklin finished with 45 yards on nine carries, while Troy Dukes had 17 yards and a touchdown on seven rushes. Chance Thrash had a 90-yard touchdown run.
Lathan Davis finished with nine tackles for Clarkdale, while Connor Alsobrooks had eight tackles, including one for a loss. Adam Upton tallied six tackles and one fumble recovery.
