- Southern Miss unveiled its new uniforms for the upcoming football season on Saturday. The new uniforms, designed by Russell, will make their debut against Mississippi State on Sept. 5.
HATTIESBURG — The University of Southern Mississippi unveiled its new home and away football uniforms for the 2015 season, produced by Russell Athletic, here Saturday afternoon at the Lake Terrace Convention Center as part of the 20th annual Eagle Fanfare.
The collaborative effort between the two parties developed a customized uniform for the Golden Eagle squad. The uniform is made of a performance compression material that encompasses enhanced moisture wicking property as well as superior ventilation, which allows for quicker heat dispersion.
The home “back in black” design has the Golden Eagles dressed almost exclusively in all black. The pants are entirely black, except for the Russell logo, while the jersey has the text “Southern Miss” in gold across the chest. The outline of the numerals are also in gold as well as the sleeve piping, while the numerals and short sleeves are adorned in stealth gray. Gray numerals also decorate the sleeve and also fashions a gold outline.
As for the road uniforms, the Golden Eagles will also wear black pants with a white jersey. The numerals and “Southern Miss” text across the chest are both in black with gold outlines on the numerals on both the front and back of the jersey as well as on the numbered sleeves. The jersey also has black on each shirt sleeve with gold piping.
This will be the second set of uniforms that Russell Athletic has produced for the Southern Miss football program. The last set came prior to the 2012 season and were worn through last fall.
The new uniforms will make their official debut when Southern Miss opens its season, Saturday, Sept. 5, at home against Mississippi State.
