Are you tired of the scorching hot weather and dreaming of cooler days and fall fishing? If you’re looking for some fantastic fishing action then you owe it to yourself to plan a trip to Dulac, Louisiana this fall. I joined a group of anglers from Meridian last fall and experienced some of the finest fishing in the South.
After arriving in Dulac the afternoon before our trip, Captain Clarke and Angie Trosclair prepared a supper of Cajun cuisine and seafood fit for a king. Anticipation was running high as we heard stories of bull red and monster trout caught by the captain and his clients.

Early the next morning we were on the water and heading through the beautiful marsh with anticipation of catching bull reds. A quick stop off a marsh point was just the ticket for a few speckled trout to get our day going. That would be a tune up for greater things to come. Bull reds and black drum were our fish of choice on this trip.
Captain Trosclair suddenly stopped and anchored off of one of the many islands in the area. To us they all looked the same, but the Captain knew where to stop and when to anchor.
“We might catch a big red or drum off of this point,” said Captain Trosclair.
It didn’t take long before Mitch Mosley hooked up with a bull red and the fight was on. After quite a battle Mosley subdued the fish and our day had begun with a bang.
Captain Clarke Trosclair has been catching bull reds, specks, black drum, and guiding since he was 12 years old and he knows more than a few things about locating and catching these big bruisers in the saltwater marshes in South Louisiana.
It didn’t take long before Tony Boutwell got in on the action and promptly caught the fish of his lifetime, a big black drum.

Captain Trosclair had caught some crabs for bait and we were using fresh cracked crabs and the fish were really tearing them up.
Tom Sikes didn’t waste any time either as he quickly caught a bull red. Sikes battled the big fish, whooping and hollering as he fought him. If you love fishing and catching big fish then it’s hard not to get excited when you’re catching the fish of your lifetime.
As the day wore on the excitement and intensity just got better. Several times we had multiple fish on at once and things got really hectic. When you’re battling 15 to 20 pound saltwater fish you can’t manhandle them, you just hang on.
I finally caught a bull red and a black drum in between Tom Sikes and Mitch Mosley’s catches. Mosley’s a veteran at catching the monster reds and he knows what to do when he hooks up with one. For a while it was a race between Sikes and Mosley on catching the biggest fish.
Whether you’re an experienced angler or novice, Captain Trosclair can put you on the fish and he has the equipment rigged and ready to go. And if you spend the night before fishing Captain Clarke and Angie might just treat you to some fine down home Cajun hospitality.
Captain Trosclair can put you on monster fish on the offshore rigs, inshore, or fishing the marsh, depending upon the season and your desire.
