Hiram Meador Sollie

    Funeral services for Hiram Meador Sollie will be held Tuesday at 11:30 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Drew Dabbs officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

    Mr. Sollie, 89, died Saturday December 17, 2011 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

    He was born August 29, 1922 in Meridian.  Mr. Sollie was the son of the late Douglas and Mary Anderson Sollie. He graduated from Ponta High School and was in the Medical Corps of the United States Navy during World War II. He returned from Pearl Harbour where he was a pharmacist Mate at Aiea Heights Hospital in Hawaii. After returning from the Navy Mr. Sollie worked 40 years for Ford Motor Dealerships and retired as Parts Manager at New South Ford.

    He was a loving and faithful husband to Manell and is the father of three children. Mr. Sollie is a Mason and Shriner.  He was a Christian, deacon and faithful member of First Baptist Church, Marion where he served faithfully in many capacities.

    Survivors include his wife, Manell McElroy Sollie; children, Dennis A. Sollie and wife Shirley, H. Everett Sollie and wife Brenda, Cassandra N. Sollie Black and husband Sheldon; grandchildren, Stephanie Null and  husband Robby, Dana Casey and husband Chad, Emmie Franklin and husband Jason, Sarah Johnson and husband Chris, Cammie Rice and husband Nathan, Christopher Sollie; step-grandchildren, Michael Black and wife Kayleigh, Elizabeth Black; great-grandchildren, Millery, Abby, Shelby, Camron, Deven, Bryce, Natalie, Cloe, Emma, Cooper, Tyler and Ella Katherine; great-step grandchild, Logan Black.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Mary Anderson Sollie; sisters, Margie, Nona, Nellie, Maxine, Wanda and Bonnie Ruth; brothers, Ladell, Ethan, and Floyd (Bubba).

    The family requests memorials be made to the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church, Marion.

    Pallbearers will be Billy Sollie, Tim Sollie, Scott Sollie, Michael Clayton, Larry Fountain, Jeff McElroy and Todd McElroy.
