John Rosemond, a family psychologist known for his parenting advice, will hold two seminars in the North Hills Christian School gym, 5701 North Hills St., on Monday at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Advance tickets are available at the school and at Bible Bookstore locations.
Admission to one seminar is $10 for individuals and $15 for couples. To attend both sessions the price is $15 per person or $20 per couple.
The topics are: Working with parents of problem students, to be held from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m., for teachers, professionals and parents; and assuming the power of parenthood, to be held from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
In a telephone interview last week Rosemond called his advice for parenting traditional.
“The message I’ll be bringing to Meridian will hopefully help people understand the ins and outs of raising children,” Rosemond said. “We’ll talk about leadership parenting and various principles pertaining to the discipline of children.”
He also said his message is not age-specific and information he provides will be useful for any age child, as well as for expecting parents.
Rosemond’s seminars are being sponsored by the First Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Carlis Clinton, pastor of the church, said Rosemond is a well-known authority on families and parenting.
“We’re bringing him here because we believe strongly in families and families are such a vital part of our community,” Clinton said.
Rosemond has a syndicated newspaper column on parenting that currently runs in about 225 newspapers nationwide. He also has written several books on the subject. For more information about Rosemond visit his Web site at rosemond.com. For more information about the seminars, call (601) 485-4515.
