MCC’s Joseph Knight named Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished College Administrator

Joseph Knight, vice president for Workforce Solutions at Meridian Community College, has been named a Distinguished College Administrator by Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society for community and junior colleges.

The award recognizes college leaders who go above and beyond to support student success. Knight was nominated by PTK students, who praised his dedication both inside and outside the classroom.

“Supporting student success is at the heart of what I do,” Knight said. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see students grow and achieve their goals. I’m deeply honored by this recognition and grateful to the students who nominated me.”

Knight has spent the past 12 years leading MCC’s Workforce Solutions division, overseeing programs including adult education, continuing education, 37 career and technical education programs, workforce-related grants, and the Holiday Testing Center. He also works closely with local businesses, economic development groups and workforce boards to strengthen the community’s workforce.

Before joining MCC, Knight spent eight years at East Central Community College in workforce development roles. His career also includes more than a decade in manufacturing leadership, including roles in supervision, plant management, and quality assurance.

PTK President and Chief Executive Officer Lynn Tincher-Ladner applauded Knight. “This award highlights college leaders who make a real difference in students’ lives. Knight’s dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. His support helps students have a richer, more meaningful college experience,” she said.

Knight will be honored at PTK’s Annual Convention, April 3-5, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Knight holds a bachelor of business administration and a master of science in workforce education leadership from Mississippi State University. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Union, where he serves as pastor of Linwood Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
