Walker encourages residents to shop local at Uptown Meridian

Meridian City Councilwoman Romande Walker is encouraging residents to support their local businesses by shopping at Uptown Meridian mall.
On Wednesday, Walker hosted the first of several planned walks through the mall intended to help residents get exercise while showcasing the various businesses and products the mall has to offer.

“My happiest moment was when Tom Williams from Marion found the unique type of tennis shoes he has been wearing all his adult life,” Walker said in a text message. “It has been 10 years, according to Mr. Williams, since he has been to our mall.”
Everyone is invited to come take part in the walks, Walker said, with the next event scheduled for Aug. 28.
