Two arrested in Meridian drug bust

Two men are facing numerous drug charges after the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics served a search warrant Thursday in Meridian.

According to a news release from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, MBN agents arrested 32-year-old Jabreon Mosley and 42-year-old Asad Baseemah following a months-long investigation that began in August 2023.

Mosely is charged with two counts of violating the Victoria Huggins Pill Press law, which restricts who can legally possess a pill press, aggravated trafficking of MDMA, trafficking of methamphetamine, aggravated trafficking of fentanyl, aggravated trafficking of cocaine, trafficking of Xanax and trafficking of marijuana. All of the charges carry enhanced penalties for being within 1,500 feet of a school, as well as enhancements for possession of a firearm.

Mosley is also charged with convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Asad Baseemah is charged with trafficking of MDMA, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of Xanax with intent to distribute. His charges also carry the enhancements for being within 1,500 feet of a school and for possession of a firearm, and he is also charged with convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

In addition to the arrests, MBN agents seized more than 80,000 counterfeit pills made to look like Xanax, oxycodone and ecstasy, which are believed to be made of fentanyl; approximately 23 pounds of an unidentified powder suspected of containing fentanyl; about 3.7 pounds of cocaine; 53.20 grams of methamphetamine; 5.9 grams of crack cocaine; 20,107 milliliters of promethazine; 114.5 pounds of an unknown powder believed to be a binder for narcotics; 13.5 pounds of marijuana; 13 firearms including an assault rifle, a shotgun and 11 handguns, as wells as a suppressor and body armor; cash; two pill presses and approximately 4 pounds of THC wax.

MBN, in the news release, thanked the numerous other agencies that assisted with the investigation.

“The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics is grateful for the partnerships with the assisting agencies and thankful for a job well done,” the agency said.

The assisting agencies include the United States Attorney’s Office – Southern District of Mississippi, 10th Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, United States Postal Inspector, Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, East Mississippi Drug Task Force, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, Meridian Police Department and the Meridian Fire Department.
