A man is dead after leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chance through two counties Monday night.
The chase began around 8:30 p.m. on County Road 503 in Union, after deputies signaled for the driver to pull over, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell.
The driver was identified as 37-year-old Christopher Cleveland of Union, according to Newton County Deputy Coroner Rebecca Burton.
While Cleveland was driving on Greenland Road in Newton County, he reached speeds nearing 100 miles an hour, Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight said.
Knight said Cleveland lost control of his vehicle while making a turn. The vehicle flew about 30 feet in the air before landing, and Cleveland died at the scene, Knight said.
