Correctional officer charged with bringing contraband into jail

A correctional officer was arrested and accused of bringing drugs into East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Lost Gap.

Carly Jonecia Williams, 23, of Meridian was charged with bringing drugs into the facility, Lauderdale County Sherrif Department Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said. A search was performed and drugs were found in Williams’ possession, Calhoun said.

Williams will be formally charged at a later date during a grand jury, Calhoun said. She was released on bond.
