Driver critical following Lauderdale County accident

A Tuesday night accident left a driver in critical condition after a car struck a tree off Highway 45.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the accident around 6:09 p.m., just north of Marion, Sgt. Andy West of the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.

West said he didn’t know the name of or identifying information about the driver as of late Wednesday afternoon. 

The driver of the 2002 Chevy Camaro was northbound, ran off the road and hit a tree. The driver was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The driver didn’t wear a seatbelt.
