The carousel, at 1802 Carousel Drive in the Highland Park neighborhood, was not working earlier this month because it needed maintenance related to the pulley belt, according to a statement from the city.
After operating for a brief period, the carousel needed further maintenance, prompting the city to close it down again.
This time for four to five weeks.
City of Meridian Parks and Recreation Director Kelvin McGruder told the City Council Tuesday night that the carousel will be down until “the end of January.”
“They’ll be working on rebuilding the motor,” McGruder told the council, adding that the building will remain open to the public.
The carousel is open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
