Naval Technical Training Center changes command

Commander Michael Moran, after serving as the commanding officer of the Naval Technical Training Center since January 2016, will transfer to his new position in Millington, Tennessee as Commander Christopher J. Schlobohm takes over at Naval Air Station Meridian.

Schlobohm relieved Moran Thursday morning in a ceremony at NAS. The center trains enlisted Administrative and Supply Class “A” Schools in the following: Ship’s Serviceman, Logistics Specialists, Personnel Specialist, Yeoman as well as an advanced Flag Officer Writer course for senior Yeoman, Coast Guardsmen and Marines. 

According to an NAS news release, the center graduate 2,600 enlisted sailors on average per year.

The release notes Moran’s time as commanding officer, including his oversight on several quality improvement upgrades such as the remodel of the Ship’s Serviceman’s store library, physical security upgrades, space renovations and design plans. He will transfer to the Navy Recruiting Command in Tennessee. 

Schlobohm graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a bachelor’s of science in business economics and a master’s degree in business administration from the College of William and Mary.

Coming from Millington, Tennessee, where Schlobohm served at the Navy Personnel Command, Schlobohm worked as the assistant and then branch head for Joint Officer, Education and Subspecialty Management.
