• 5 p.m. – A special called meeting of the Board of Education of Lauderdale County School District will be held in the Boardroom at 301 46th Court, 2nd Floor, Meridian.

• 5:30-8:30 p.m. – Ed Chaney Tire Pros 30th Celebration at Dumont Plaza in downtown Meridian. Help us blow out our candles on 30 great years. Food, entertainment, fun, and giveaways. Register to win a set of four new tires.

• 3:30 p.m. – Friends will gather at Sandy Ridge Bluegrass Park for a day of fellowship, food, pickin’ and grinnin’. Bring a covered dish for supper at 6 p.m. then hang around for a wide variety of music – bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, gospel, hymns, waltzes, ballads with possible banjo, mandolin, guitar, and fiddle players. We are asking for each family to bring one canned good item to be donated to the Lauderdale Baptist Association.

• 3-5 p.m. – Free Community-Wide Fall Festival hosted by First Baptist Church of Meridian at the Bonita Lakes Boat Ramp Area. Games, prizes, food, and fun. • 5 p.m. – The Meridian Chapter of Mississippi Valley State University Alumni will have its meeting at the Council of Organizations Building, 814 45th Ave. All alumni in Meridian and surrounding counties are asked to attend. We will be passing out tickets for our annual Scholarship Raffle, collecting canned goods to give to local charitable organizations, as well as to continue to prepare for our upcoming banquet. • 7 a.m. – 17th annual Run for Hope will be at Bonita Lakes and includes a 10K Trail Run, a 5K Road Race, a 2 Mile Walk, and a  Mile Fun Run. Register in person at Anderson Health and Fitness Center. • 9 a.m.-noon – Parents for Public Schools and the MS Parent Training and Information Center will offer a Parent Advocacy Academy for parents of children will special needs at Union Station. This is an opportunity to learn about the special education process and students’ and parents’ rights under the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act.
