Man charged in Newton County shooting

The Newton County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man accused in the Monday shooting of a woman in Lawrence.

Police charged Maurice Osborn, born in 1986,  with domestic aggravated assault, according to the Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight.

Knight said Osborn’s bond has been set at $50,000.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the temple and had to be flown to Jackson for treatment. Knight said they removed the bullet from the woman on Monday and she was in intensive care.
