Five area women, ‘American Idol’ alum to take center stage at 2017 Miss Mississippi Pageant

Five local women will be among contenders vying for the Miss Mississippi crown tonight in Vicksburg, the first of three preliminaries for the 2017 Miss Mississippi Pageant. The televised pageant is Saturday at 8 pm.
Local contenders are Anna McDaniel, Arielle Marie Dale and Mia Hall, all of Meridian, and Macken’z Smith and Miriam Grace Seale, both of Philadelphia.

McDaniel, Miss William Carey University, is a broadcast journalism/mass communications major at William Carey. Her talent is vocal performance.
Dale, Miss Belle of the Bayou, received a bachelor of fine arts degree in dance performance and choreography from the University of Southern Mississippi Her talent is a jazz dance.
Hall, Miss Hattiesburg, is a music (vocal performance) major at the University of Southern Mississippi. Her talent is vocal performance.
Smith, Miss Rolling Hills, is a communication sciences and disorders major at the University of Mississippi. Her talent is vocal performance.
Seale, Miss Neshoba County Fair, is a biochemistry and microbiology major at Mississippi State University. Her talent is lyrical dance.
Meridian native and MCC alumnus Telvin Lewis, who was a contestant on the reality competition show “American Idol,” will perform during the week of competition.
