“Porches and Private Eyes,” which was shot in Brookhaven, involves the disappearance of a man and the three women who become amateur detectives in an effort to solve the mystery.

“Don’t Come Around Here” is about a man who returns home after learning his father may not have long to live. He then has to come to terms with his troubled brother and a secret he has been hiding for years, according to IMBD.

The film was shot in and around Bogue Chitto and Brookhaven, according to director Navid Sanati, who is based in Phoenix, Ariz.

Sanati, who called Brookhaven “our second home for making films,” said filmmakers chose The Magnolia State for many reasons.

“When we shot “Porches and Private Eyes” in Brookhaven, we got a lot of support,” he said. “People were so excited we were making a movie…they really supported us.”

Film producer Travis Mills, who adapted the screenplay from Gus Edwards’ play, also has family in Brookhaven. Sanati said fans of artsy movies will likely enjoy the film.

“The film is more independent than anything else you will see,” he said. “It’s more of an art film or a raw documentary than a mainstream movie.”

Actors featured in the movie include Jeremy Sande, who honed his acting chops in Meridian, and Gulfport native Jordan Salloum.

The evening, which starts at 7 p.m., will also feature John Paul Dove and Zach Day playing live music from the soundtrack of “Don’t Come Around Here.”

Tickets are $12 and will be available at the door.
