Neshoba County man held on child porn charge

A Neshoba County man has been arrested and charged with one count of child exploitation, authorities said.

Brian Lee Davis, 19, was arrested Thursday in Newton County by investigators with the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit with assistance from the Neshoba and Newton County Sheriff Departments.

According to a news release from the attorney general’s office, investigators executed a search warrant following an investigation of Davis’ online activity. As a result of the search warrant, he was arrested.

“They told me the investigation involves child pornography,” Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight said. 

Davis is a resident of southern Neshoba County, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell.

He was booked into the Newton County Detention Center, where bond was set at $100,000.

If convicted, he faces up to 40 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
