The grand jury said Tuesday that Sgt. Cory Thompson acted in self-defense in shooting 40-year-old Floyd Beverly Jr., who was sought in a domestic stabbing.

The Mississippi Press reports the shooting was recorded by a dashboard camera in Thompson’s police car.

The grand jury said the video showed Beverly opening his car door and putting both feet on the ground. It then showed the officer giving Beverly a loud command to show his hands. The video show Beverly getting out of his car with a gun in his right hand and pointing the gun at Thompson.

The grand jury says the officer fired six shots, hitting Beverly four times.
