STARKVILLE — Valerie Renee Hammond of Meridian is one of 585 students participating in the Cooperative Education Program at Mississippi State University. After completing her third work semester with Eaton Aerospace/Vickers Fluid Sys in Jackson, Hammond will return to MSU to complete requirements toward a degree in industrial engineering.

OXFORD — Haley Wiggins of Meridian, a freshman at the University of Mississippi, was selected a Top 10 Beauty in the Parade of Beauties, an annual beauty pageant sponsored by the Student Programming Board of Ole Miss. The pageant featured 86 contestants.

Wiggins was sponsored by Kappa Delta Sorority, where she is actively involved in Girl Scouts of America, Prevent Child Abuse America, and The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty.

Wiggins, an elementary education major, is the daughter of Mark and Angelia Wiggins of Meridian.

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The following area residents were among outstanding students at the University of West Alabama named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for the Fall 2006 academic semester.

To reach the President’s List, students must earn at least a 3.80 grade point average while attempting at least 12 semester hours. President’s List honorees and their hometowns are:
