Star of The Week

Finding professional success early in his career, Dr. Jon T. Flint is excited about the opportunity to make his mark on Meridian’s dentistry field.

“I want to treat all of my patients like they are family. I really want to stress patient education so that they can make informed decisions about their healthcare. This is very important with children, because if they are educated early on, then many dental problems can be avoided completely. Basically, I want to step up the oral health of all in our community,” said Flint.

The 2004 Meridian High School graduate knew from an early age he belonged in the medical field, and after shadowing several dentists, Flint began working towards his DMD.

While studying at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in Jackson, Flint was awarded the Otillie Schillig Scholarship and named to the dean’s list. Other accomplishments include being named the recipient of the Chris Sprayberry Memorial Academic Award, the International College of Oral Implantologist Award, and the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics Award. He was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society.

Finishing first in his dental class, Dr. Flint’s accolades grew with the receipt of the Wallace V. Mann, Jr. Award, which is a highlight of his educational career.

Despite his numerous achievements, Dr. Flint remains humble. He credits his successes to working closely with his grandfather as a child: “He would pick me up from school each Wednesday and we would work in his shop on all sorts of projects. We would build everything from bird houses to boats. I really enjoyed learning about all of the different tools and especially working with my hands.”

Away from the office, Dr. Flint is an avid outdoorsman. Enjoying summertime fishing, fall deer hunting, and spring turkey season are just a few of his hobbies.

As for why he chose Meridian as the locale of his up-and-coming practice, Dr. Flint confesses his love for the Queen City: “I really enjoy hunting and anything to do with the outdoors, but I also like the entertainment and atmosphere available downtown, like The Riley Center and various parades. It has a really good balance and that is a drawing point for me.”

Located inside Gilmore Family Dentistry at 3512 Highway 39 North, Dr. Flint will begin seeing patients officially on July 2,  and plans to maintain an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work schedule, Monday thru Friday. “I want to be an easy and accessible source of information for everyone,” said Flint.
