• The Lauderdale Christian Women’s Job Corps is offering free training for underemployed and unemployed women 18 and over classes to gain skills for life and employment. Fall session evening classes will begin Aug. 17. Classes are Bible Study, Jobs for Life and Introduction to Computers. • 1- 9:30 p.m. – Hwy 80 Songwriters Fest Grand Finale at Soule Live Steamworks. Opening act is award winning singer songwriter and recording artist Karen E. Reynolds.
8 p.m. – The first ever “Glow So We Can Go,” 5K Run and 2-mile walk will take place at Bonita Lakes Park in Meridian. This glow run will benefit a 30-person medical mission team from two local churches that will serve the people of the Dominican Republic. Runners and walkers can sign up at www.northcrestbaptist.com/glow or beginning at 6 p.m. on the evening of the race. The cost is $30.

• 2 p.m. – Meridian Temple Theatre for the Performing Arts will be showing the Lego Batman Movie. Doors open one hour before showtime. All tickets just $5 at the door. Great concessions.
• 7 p.m. – The 5th Annual Love Out Loud Meridian will kick off with a special worship service on the lawn at City Hall. This will begin a week of service. Participants will meet Monday-Friday morning at Northcrest Baptist Church’s multi-purpose building at 8 a.m. for breakfast and worship before going out to their site to serve. Tuesday, July 18
• 10 a.m. – Parkinson Support Group will meet at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church. Fellowship and refreshments. FMI: C.W. Rankin, 601-604-1919.
• 2-4 p.m. Stuff the Van at Bedford Care Center in Marion for United Way of East Mississippi. Fill the van for school supplies to support local students. Hotdog sale begins at 10:30.

Thursday, July 20
• 9 a.m.-3 p.m. – United Way of East Mississippi in Lauderdale County will have their annual Stuff The Bus at Raising Cane’s on North Hills Street. Bring donations of school supplies, new or gently used uniforms, monetary donations. FMI: 601-693-2782.
• 10 a.m. – The East Central Planning and Development District/Area Agency on Aging will hold a Public Hearing for Aging Programs in the Board Room of the ECP&D District Office building located at 280 Commercial Drive in Newton.
• 6 p.m. – The International Singing Brakeman Association will have their regular monthly meeting at the Red Roof Inn (formerly Best Western), located at 2219 South Frontage Road. Saturday, July 22

Tuesday, July 25
• 6-7 p.m. – The Mississippi Department of Human Services/Division of Youth Services of Lauderdale County will conduct a Community Forum to receive input from the community, and discuss the settlement agreement entered with the Department of Justice. The forum will be held at 31st Avenue Baptist Church, 3411 20th Street.
Wednesday, July 26
• 8:30 a.m. – There will be an AARP Smart Driver Class for 55 and older at the RSVP-United Way Office Building, 4817 N Park Dr. Ste V. AARP members $15, non-members $20. Good for three years. FMI: 601-482-0512.

• 11 a.m. – Historic First Union Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate their annual Family and Friends Day with praise, worship, and preaching. Special guest speaker will be the Rev. David Ellington of Old Elam Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala. along with his church family.
