Congratulating the newly installed members of the Meridian Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Mississippi State University Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Judy Bonner recognized the students as leaders.

“You will have many opportunities,” she said to the MCC McCain Theater audience of students, faculty, staff, friends and family who came to watch the installation ceremonies of PTK – the international academic honor society for community and junior college students. “Phi Theta Kappa is a community of high-achieving students,” she said.

“We’d like to roll out the maroon carpet and show you all Mississippi State University has to offer. We look forward to seeing great things in years to come,” she told the new members.

MCC President Dr. Scott Elliott said PTK centers around academic excellence, community service and leadership development and said Bonner was a great case study of leadership. “I encourage you to emulate the model of Dr. Bonner,” he said.

“You’re going to achieve great things if you stay on the path you’re on,” Elliott told the students.
