Supports museum at Bonita Lakes

There have been several articles and letters to the editor concerning the Mississippi Children’s Museum-Meridian locating at Bonita Lakes. I have been fortunate to be a small part of the planning of the museum and personally know that multiple locations in Meridian were studied extensively. For many reasons, including safety, outdoor play opportunities and inspiring surroundings, a small site at Bonita Lakes has been chosen.

I love Bonita Lakes and exercise there each week. I would never support the museum being located there if I thought it would negatively impact Bonita and our community’s enjoyment of it. The museum will not affect any trails of any kind. It will have a separate entrance off of Willow Ridge Road and will minimize tree removal, leaving as small a footprint as possible.

To me, the opportunity to spend a day with your children/grandchildren in a museum that is hands-on and designed to spark the imagination and then to be able to walk over to Bonita Lakes and have a picnic or share a walk would be a pretty perfect day in Meridian. I support the Mississippi Children’s Museum-Meridian and the location of Bonita Lakes.

Most important hour meeting for K-12

Strange who is not at this “critical” education meeting on EdBuild wanting to revamp all funding for our public schools:

Chairman of Senate Education Committee;

Chairman of the House Education Committee;

MS Department of Education leadership;

Lt. Gov. Reeves;

Speaker Gunn;

Gov. Bryant,

A single Republican member of the House or Senate Education Committees.

Also:

Zero is exactly how many words the EdBuild leaders said at the meeting.

Zero is the number of questions EdBuild would answer.

No is the answer when the House Minority Leader requested permission to ask questions before the meeting.

Secret is what the leadership has declared the contract with EdBuild.

490,000 is the number of students who will be impacted by this.

Actions speak louder than words!
