Meridian Police Department

    The Meridian Police Department reported the following arrests between 8:44 a.m. Wednesday and 8:43 a.m. Thursday:

    • Simple assault – Brittany Mangum, 28, 506 Front St., Meridian. Mangum is also charged with contempt of court.

    • Willful trespassing – Johnny McDonald, born in 1950, 1544 20th St., Meridian.

    • Simple assault – Loquintonette Brewster, born in 1989, 1318 19th St., Meridian.

    • Simple assault, domestic – Sherren S. Smith, born in 1977, 2504 45th Ave., Meridian.

    • Disorderly conduct – Shureka L. Tamayo, born in 1993, 4801 23rd St., Meridian.

    • Simple assault, domestic – Dvonte U. Jackson, born in 1993, 306 60th Ave., Meridian.

    • Violation of property maintance code, three counts – J.W. Barns, 5200 27th St., Meridian.

    • Violation of property maintance code, two counts – Peggy Martin, Nettleton.

    • Violation of property maintance code, three counts – Francis Q. Garrett, Marion.

    • Violation of property maintance code, three counts – Tywanna Boler, 3711 11th St., Meridian.

    Incident Reports

    The Meridian Police Department reported the following incidents from Wednesday to Thursday:

Auto Burglaries

     • 500 block of Sweet Gum Bottom Road, Meridian.

    • 400 block of Lake Drive, Meridian.

Residential Burglaries

    • 2300 block of Tenth Avenue, Meridian.

    • 2000 block of 48th Avenue, Meridian.

Shootings

     Meridian police responded to 7 shots-fired calls. Officers were unable to find evidence to support the calls.

Lauderdale County Sheriff’s      Department

    The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests between 8:44 a.m. Wednesday and 8:43 a.m. Thursday:

    • Underage consumption – Christopher Kody Holcombe, 18, 1054 Hwy 19 South, Meridian.

    • Burglary of dwelling, house – Cornelious Drew Smith, 32, 10280 Whipperwill Road, Meridian. Smith is also charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

    • Possession of marijuana in vehicle – Michael Lee Smith, 22, 719 Old 25 South, Noxapater.

    • Driving under the influence (DUI), other substance – Courtney Brooks Young, 25, 710 Old 25 South, Noxapater.

    Meridian Fire departments reported the following runs from Wednesday:

    • Cooking fire, 17th Street

    • Medical assist, Eighth Street Extension

    • Vehicle accident, Second Street South

    • Vehicle accident, South Frontage Road

Ambulance Runs

    Metro Ambulance reported 46 emergency runs Thursday at 4 p.m.
