Ken Barlow, Cabesa Jones, Robert Gaines, Joshua Bounds, Jamie Pearson and Trent Clark, instructor, are shown at work in the Automobile Service Technology (AST) Program at Clarke County Career & Technology Center. According to Clark, classes have been very involved and the learning curve has been steep in recent weeks, a trend expected to sustain itself throughout the school year. Community leaders have visited the classroom to speak on career fields of the automotive sector. Wyotech Representative Sean Powell spoke to classes about the automotive trade school and what they have to offer students interested in a career in the automotive job market. Automotive Service Technology’s student organization, Skills USA, selected officers for the 2010-11 school year and has several meetings planned to encourage student involvement.
