Lorraine Firment
LAUREL — Services for Lorraine “Tinker” Firment will be held today at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Lake Park Hills Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Firment, of Laurel, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. She was born in Alexandria, La., on Jan. 27, 1943. She attended Providence Catholic High School and Tioga High School where she met and married the love of her life, Terry Firment.
They lived in Tioga and later moved to Laurel, where they have lived for more than 35 years.
She lived life to the fullest each day devoting herself to her husband, children and grandchildren who gave her great joy. She will be remembered as one who gave unselfishly of herself to her many special friends and to those in need. Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to several nieces and nephews. It was often said that she never met a stranger and was a friend to all that she met. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren fishing in her pond, and was the No. 1 sports fan of Louisiana State University and even had a special “Tiger Room” in her home.
She was a devoted Catholic, who firmly believed in the power of the rosary and Lord Jesus Christ. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include husband, Terry Firment of Laurel; daughters, Rebecca Stewart and her husband, Glen, Kimberly Ferguson and her husband, Tommy, all of Laurel, Karen Firment of Tioga, La. and Ashley Firment of Carbondale, Ill.; sons, Joe Firment of Laurel and Jeffery Firment and his wife, Lisa, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Dan Andries of Tioga; sisters, Tish Babin and Faye Mistry and her husband, Firoz, all of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren, Austin Stewart and his wife, Katie, Rayce Stewart, John Ross Ferguson, Zac Ferguson, Abbi Firment, Gracie Firment, Elli Firment and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Glen Stewart, Tommy Ferguson, Austin Stewart, Rayce Stewart, John Ross Ferguson and Zac Ferguson.
Jimmy Earl Yeates
Construction business
Graveside services for Jimmy Earl Yeates will be held today at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Luquire officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Yeates, 27, of Meridian, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, in Meridian.
Survivors include his father, Jackie L. Yeates and his wife, Gayle, of Adkins, Texas; mother, Judi Cole of Meridian; children, Tyler Yeats, Destin Yeates, Kimber Yeates, and Bethany Yeates, all of Meridian; brothers, Warrant Officer Jon Yeates, of San Antonio, Jacob Yeates and Jason Yeates, both of Meridian; step-sisters, Karen Lowden of San Antonio, Judy Territt of Paris, N.Y. and Linda Ponds of Katy, Texas and his grandmother, Cletha Yeates of Weatherford, Texas.
Dewitt T. Walker

NEWTON — Services for Dewitt T. “D.T.” Walker will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Pouncy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Walker, 89, of Newton, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Guardian Angel Health Care Center. He was born on May 16, 1917 in Jasper County. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
Survivors include his sister, Waurean Wilson of Newton; his nephew, Bill Boulton and his wife, Helen, of Newton and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Walker; parents, Dewitt T. Walker and Ora Walker; step-father, C.H. Walker; brothers, Robert F. Walker and Clarence Walker; sisters, Mary E. Boulton, Carlene Loper and Edna E. Grantham.
Pallbearers will be Allison Wilson, Larry Loper, Randy Loper, Paul Boulton, Bill Boulton and Ras Jones.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Julia O. Stuart
Graveside services for Julia O. Stuart will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Freedom Rock Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Byrd officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stuart, 90, of New Braunfels, Texas, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home.
Lethal Preston Taylor
QUITMAN — Services for Lethal Preston Taylor will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Stonewall Methodist Church with the Revs. Chris Cooksey and Kenneth Owen officiating. Burial will be in Stonewall Cemetery. Wright’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Taylor, 83, of Stonewall, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Lakeside Living Center. He was a member of Stonewall Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ouida Taylor of Stonewall; sons, David Wayne Taylor and his wife, Mary Ann, of Brookhaven, and Preston Talton Taylor and his wife, Pat, of Stonewall; a brother, Dan Taylor of Crawford; sisters, Iola Gaskin of Macon and Dot Curtis of Brandon; grandchildren Joey and Vanessa Taylor, Kenny Pittman, Tammy Pittman, Charles Whittington and Lisa Whittington, Joe and LeAnn Hollis, Keith and Barbara Taylor, Tony Taylor, Gina McClain, Adam and Jennifer Taylor, Kirk and Mindy Gordin and Stephan and Sara Hankins; great-grandchildren, Vance Taylor, Zac Taylor, Jamee Taylor, Wes Boles, Tyler Boles, Jessica Pittman, Courtney Taylor, Chris Taylor, David Taylor, Daryel Tayler, Kasi McClain, Lacie McClain, Christopher Hancock, Colton Hollis, Jake Hankins, Justin Gordin, Grace Gordin, Claire Gordin, Erica Taylor, Gabby Taylor and Madisson Taylor; great-great-grandchildren, Landun Taylor, Austen Shirley and Patten Shirley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harmon and Dirt Rasberry; a niece, Dolyene Davis and her husband, John R.

Visitation will be today beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home and Thursday, 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Rev. Paul B. Oglesbee
NEWTON — Services for the Rev. Paul B. Oglesbee will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hickory Baptist Church with the Revs. Guy Odom and Dr. David Sellers officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Oglesbee, 72, of Hickory, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in his home. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and also from the New Orleans Theological Seminary. He served as a pastor for five different churches and also was director of missions for Kemper County Baptist Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Brand Oglesbee of Hickory; sons, Paul B. Oglesbee III and his wife, Wendy, of Hickory, Ken A. Oglesbee and his wife, Lisa, of Columbus; a daughter, Kimberly O. Myers and her husband, Gary, of New Orleans; sisters, Polly Robertson of Columbia, Joyce Pride of Gulfport and Jean Dombrowski of Gulfport; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mae Louise Thompson
Memorial services for Mae Louise Thompson will be held at a later date. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thompson, 80, of Meridian, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in her home.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Evelyn Stephens; brothers, James Thompson of Collinsville, Ray Elmer Thompson and Charles Lester Thompson, both of Delaware, Ohio; her friend and companion, Stan Satterfield and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daisy Mae and Talmadge Thompson; a sister, Jo Ann Morgan; brothers, Thomas Ransom Thompson, Clifford Burt Thompson, Robert Eugene Thompson, Neville Leroy Thompson and Jerry Oliver Thompson.
