More than 80 Meridian Community College students were tapped as members of the MCC chapter of the National Technical Honor Society during a ceremony held on campus in the Dulaney Room.

Chapter president Roderick Vaughn, 29, of Choctaw, said he was excited to join and serve in this organization that honors achievement of top career and technical education students.

“I looked at it as an opportunity … so I could have a foothold for my future,” Vaughn said.

Nationwide, the National Technical Honor Society currently serves approximately 100,000 active members and nearly a million members since its inception in 1984.  Awarding more than $1.7 million in scholarships to date, NTHS honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. For over 30 years, NTHS has been the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education.
