Community and business leaders gathered Thursday on Great River Drive as Methodist Orthotics & Prosthetics cut the ribbon on their new Meridian location. The opening is the 10th location for the business, which provides custom braces and artificial limbs for patients throughout the state.
“We’ve been actually serving here for 18 years, and it’s been a wonderful 18 years and we’re so thankful for the opportunity we’ve had,” said Director Chris Wallace. “We appreciate the providers in the area and the patients and all those we’ve had an opportunity to serve and hope and pray that we’ll have many more years of service in this area.”

Thursday’s ribbon cutting comes as Methodist Rehabilitation Center, which is over the orthotics and prosthetics clinics, marks 50 years of providing rehabilitation services to Mississippians who need it, said CEO David McMillin.
At Methodist, McMillin said, healthcare is service to the community, and Wallace and the Meridian team have shown they truly understand that over their years in the Queen City.
“This bunch of people, led by Chris Wallace, they understand what’s being a healthcare servant to our community,” he said. So with that, I’m going to say thank you for your output and thank you from the standpoint of what you have accomplished with Meridian.”
Helen Sims, membership director for the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation, said Methodist Orthotics & Prosthetics offers services a majority of Meridian residents will never need. For those that do need them, however, having a location nearby where they can go is a major benefit, she said.
“You don’t need something like this until you are in a critical stage of need,” she said. “And how fortunate we are to be able to offer this for the people in our community.”
Meridian Community Development Director Craig Hitt said the city is also grateful for the investment Methodist Orthotics & Prosthetics has made in opening a Meridian location and providing service to the city’s residents.
Methodist Orthotics & Prosthetics is located at 4910 29th Ave. For more information visit methodistonline.org/orthotics-prosthetics.
