- The Meridian Public School District will soon be spreading its message on billboards throughout the city, such as this one located on Poplar Springs Drive.
Meridian Public School District wants residents to know how well the city’s schools are doing, and will soon begin spreading the message on billboards in the city.
The school district’s Board of Trustees approved the billboard campaign last week. MPSD Public Relations Director Elizabeth McDonald has been overseeing efforts to launch the ad campaign.
“Dr. Taylor’s message has been pretty consistent in that it takes all of us to be successful,” McDonald said. “Our ‘Strong Together’ campaign is going to help promote this.”
The school district already has two billboards, one of which is located one on Poplar Springs Drive.
Three new billboards will be located at Highway 45 and Highway 39, State Boulevard at 23rd Street, and on Eighth Street.
McDonald said the billboard on Highway 45 will be digital and is expected to get 130,555 views per week for each of their advertisements.
“That’s a huge number of people seeing your ad every single time,” McDonald said.
The digital billboard will cost the school district $1,800 a month. The billboards on State Boulevard and Eighth Street run $400 a month each. Total cost for all billboards and printing costs will be $13,600.
Funds for the billboard campaign were approved by the board. Lamar Advertising has been awarded the contract and will help design the billboards, which will have to be signed off on by MPSD Superintendent Dr. Alvin Taylor.
