WCU Wind Symphony to perform Saturday at The MAX

The Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience invites the public to come celebrate the Mississippi’s rich musical heritage as it hosts the William Carey University Wind Symphony for a special performance Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m. The casual concert, titled “Mississippi Winds: A Living Legacy,” will take place in the Citizens National Bank Courtyard at The MAX.

The 50-member ensemble from William Carey University will present an program composed entirely of works by Mississippi composers. This unique concert offers audiences a chance to experience the breadth and depth of compositional talent from within the state.

 

Attendees will be treated to pieces, including:

 

“On the Wings of the Wind” by Ryan Todd

“The Evil Within” by Aaron McMichael

“In His Grace” by Ayatey Shabazz

“Mississippi Blue” by Dr. Josephy Earp

“Deer Island Sunrise” by Greg Fhiaras

“I Am Bound for the Promised Land” by Wes Cameron

“Se-SAW” by Dr. Clifton Taylor

“The Legend of Saint Cecilia” by Luigi Zaninelli

“Beyond the Gates” by Julie Giroux

 

“We are incredibly excited to welcome the William Carey University Wind Symphony to The MAX,” said Heather LaCoste, education director at The MAX. “Presenting a concert focused solely on Mississippi composers perfectly aligns with our mission to celebrate the artists and innovators of our state. It promises to be a wonderful afternoon showcasing exceptional musical talent.”

The MAX invites the community, friends and families to gather in the Citizens National Bank Courtyard for this special performance celebrating Mississippi’s vibrant musical landscape.
