Amidst the fanfare of balloons, confetti, applause, hairspray and salon products, Sandra Hartzler became more than just a customer at the local JCPenney Salon. With Hartzler’s sale, Salon Leader Brenda Turberville and her staff topped the $1 million in salon sales mark at the Bonita Lakes Mall store.

Store Manager Larry Payne presented Sandra Hartzler with a JCPenney gift basket adorned with salon products, congratulated Salon Designer Lauren Westendorf with a gift basket, and thanked them both for their role in the store’s milestone achievement.

It was a goal set by the store manager and salon team in early 2009. And once it was conveyed to the salon team, said Payne, it quickly became the entire store’s goal.  By projecting sales by month and posting results daily, Payne said it became easy for the stylists to see the goal was attainable.

“Accomplishing this in today’s economic climate would be challenging. However, it was the team who believed we could do it and so we did!” said Turberville. “I am very proud of this accomplishment for our store and for associates, but I am not surprised given the talent we have on our team.”

“They are passionate about what they do and they are all well educated and highly skilled, and still excited to learn new techniques.” added Payne. “I am privileged to work with Brenda and her staff.”

Payne said the salon is the first in its district to achieve the million dollar sales level.

The JCPenney Salon at Bonita Lakes is a full-service hair salon offering salon, haircuts, manicures, facial waxing, and pedicure services. The salon’s hours of operation are Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome.
