Three men accused of robbing a Toomsuba Dollar General have been identified as Alabama natives, and two are in the custody of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department.
Law enforcement in Tuscaloosa arrested Rasheem Keshawn Powell, 19, and Rodarrius Jawan Yates, 21, two men believed to be connected to the Dec. 15 armed robbery of a Dollar General store on Highway 11/80, in Toomsuba.
Around 2 p.m. that Friday, two men entered with handguns and their faces covered and struck the clerk multiple times before fleeing on foot toward I-20/59.
A witness told deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department that they saw the two men enter a vehicle and drive toward Alabama.
Powell, of Livingston, Alabama, and Yates, of Cuba, Alabama, were arrested on Monday and law enforcement named a third man, 18-year-old Quin’Darius Keshawn Jackson, as another suspect.
On Monday, Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said the departments expect more arrests and that the robbery may be connected to similar crimes in Lauderdale County.
The three face charges for two counts of armed robbery (one for each of the two Dollar General employees), one count of kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault.
Total bond for each suspect is set at $70,000.
Authorities are asking the public to assist with the arrest of Jackson, of York, Alabama. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call (855) 485-8417.
