The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department is seeking three men involved with a shooting that occurred in Toomsuba Sunday evening and is encouraging the men to surrender.

Ward Calhoun, the chief deputy of the department, said Tirale O. Reed, 34, Derrence M. Reed, 34, and Robert D. Reed, 31, are suspected of shooting into a vehicle on the 8100 block of Lauderdale-Toomsuba Road.

“The investigation is ongoing. There is at least one other individual we are attempting to identify,” Calhoun said.

Warrants have been issued for the three Reeds, who have local addresses. They are related, but Calhoun said he wasn’t sure of the individual relationships.

Tirale Reed had previously been accused in the July 15, 2016 shooting death of former Meridian High School and Mississippi State University football player Chris Smith. Tirale Reed appears in the Aug. 8, 2017 Custody Review Sheet but doesn’t appear in the subsequent review sheets, indicating he may have been released on bond or pleaded to a lesser charge.

Calhoun couldn’t confirm that Monday but said, if Tirale Reed had been released on bond, his bond for shooting into a vehicle would be revoked.

“We encourage people who see these individuals to call 911 or Crimestoppers,” Calhoun said. “And I personally encourage these individuals to turn themselves in.”

Each man faces a $50,000 bond for allegedly shooting into a vehicle.
