Meridian Police Department
The Meridian Police Department reported the following arrests between 8:44 a.m. Friday and 8:43 a.m. Monday:
• Shoplifting – Jamie Manley, born in 1991, 4190 Main St., Meridian.
• Shoplifting, second offense – Nehesha T. Collins, 27, 2647 St. Luke St., Meridian. Collins is also charged with petit larceny, giving false information and contempt of court.
• Trespassing – Jamillian Benaman, born in 1990, 1712 29th Ave., Meridian.
• Simple assault – Billy D. Wilson, born in 1971, 14 Johnson St., Meridian.
• Simple assault – Ricardo McClellon, born in 1976, 530 James Chaney Drive, Meridian.
• Receiving stolen property – Brett L. Clopton, born in 1982, 2316 41st St., Meridian.
• Simple assault – Antonio A. Gatling, 39, 3109 10th St., Meridian. Gatling is also charged with disorderly conduct and destroying city property.
• Simple assault – Jimmy Lewis Hornsby, 55, 4305 36th Ave., Meridian.
• Simple assault – Marcus Smith, born in 1982, 604 49th Ave., Meridian.
• Driving under the influence (DUI), first offense – Bryan A. Crooks, 21, 68 Shelton Road, Cuba, Ala. Crooks is also charged with reckless driving, driving without headlights, wrong way on a one-way street, no liability insurance, and driving without a license.

• 2300 block of Front Street, Meridian.
• 2300 block of South Frontage Road, Meridian.
• 3200 block of 24th Avenue, Meridian.
• 3500 block of 36th Avenue, Meridian.
Commercial Burglary
• 1000 block of 36th Avenue, Meridian.
Residential Burglaries
• 1100 block of B Street, Meridian.
• 2300 block of 35th Avenue, Meridian.
• 2500 block of 16th Avenue, Meridian.
• 4500 block of Highway 39 North, Meridian.
Shootings
Meridian police responded to 3 shots-fired calls. Officers were unable to find evidence to support the calls.
Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department
The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests between 8:44 a.m. Friday and 8:43 a.m. Monday:
• Domestic violence – Robert Eugene Benton, 52, 9361 Whipporwill Road, Meridian.
• Aggravated assault – Jareigus V. Dixon, 28, 619 MLK Ave., Meridian.
• Failure to appear (justice court), four counts – Charlene Sue Farrington, 33, 5223 Minifarm Road, Meridian.
• Driving under the influence (DUI), other substance – Jakoby Clark Givens, 19, 203 Belmont Ave., Newton. Givens is also charged with possession of marijuana and seat-belt violation.
• Failure to pay child support – Andre Griggs, 52, 1272 Will Wright Road, Meridian.
• DUI, other substance – Qualincas Sintras Hayes, 33, 245 Mount Horeb Road 81, Meridian. Hayes is also charged with driving with a suspended license and violation of insurance card in vehicle law.
• DUI, first offense – Bruce Wayne Johnson, 54, 100 Nixon Circle 35, York, Ala. Johnson is also charged with driving without a license.
• Uttering forgery – Derricka Arlene Richey, 25, 42 Eastwyck Road, Decatur.
• Simple assault causing bodily injury – Kenyatta T. Walker, 20, 1426 38th Ave., Meridian.
• DUI, first offense – William Chase Wooten, 20, 10832 Byrd Doerner Road, Collinsville. Wooten is also charged with seat-belt violation and willful trespassing.
