Canvases for Cancer set for Thursday

An auction featuring donated art from talented local and regional artists, with the intention of supporting cancer patients in the community, is slated for Thursday evening in downtown Meridian.

Canvases for Cancer will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Mississippi State University Riley Center. The event is an annual art auction benefiting Baptist Cancer Center-Anderson.

A fun-filled evening, the event will feature live painting by local artists, music, delicious food, door prizes and beautiful artwork with a virtual auction and a live auction.

Canvases for Cancer will feature more than 40 works donated by area artists to help support cancer patients living in the community.

Among the artists who have contributed works to the auction are Cooper French, Amanda Cassell, Rosemary Kahlmus, Judy Van Veckhoven, Keith Everett, Marsha Iverson, Leslie Carruth, Rachel Misenar, Karen Rush, Kris Gianakos, Joy Greer, Jill Hammes, Beth Whitehead, Cary Haycox, Hunter Heath, Tony Boutwell, Laura Carmichael, Wanda Price, Kim Gianakos, Denise Dengler, Gary Howse, Frankie Harrison, Daniel Ethridge, Juliet McDonald, and many more.

Proceeds from Canvases for Cancer will go toward supporting priority initiatives, equipment and educational activities at Baptist Cancer Center-Anderson.
