Quitman alumna Hailes named to preseason C-USA team

HATTIESBURG — Quitman alumna Shonte Hailes was named to Conference USA’s Preseason Team on Wednesday.

Hailes, a junior guard, started 23 of the 26 she games in which she played last season. She had 20 points or more in five contests, including a career-high 28 points at UAB (1/18/18) on nine-of-13 shooting from the field and was four-of-six from beyond the arc. 

Her shooting percentage of .529 was the fourth-best in the conference last season and she led the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.4, which was the 32nd-best in the nation. She had 5.2 assists per game, the second most of any C-USA player and her 135 total assists for the season were the third-most in the conference. She also led the league in three-point shooting at .452 percent.

Hailes joins the likes of Jerontay Clemons, Tamara Jones, Jamierra Faulkner and Pauline Love as a member of the Preseason Team for the conference.
