Moe Bandy concert to raise funds for Temple marquee
Insurance proceeds only partially covered repairs of the Temple Theater’s marquee, damaged by an April tornado, and the Meridian venue will need another $10,000 for repairs and updates.
“So to try to raise funds to get it fixed, I thought, what about Moe Bandy,” theater owner Roger Smith said.
Bandy, a country music artist, performed last summer at the Temple for a benefit concert and agreed to return for a reduced fee and peform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1.
Bandy, whose hits include “Bandy The Rodeo Clown,” “Hank Williams, You Wrote My Life” and “Till I’m Too Old To Die Young,” was born in Meridian in 1944 and lived here until he was 6 years old, when his family moved to San Antonio, Texas.
“We’re hoping people will rally and raise funds for the marquee,” Smith said, saying insurance paid approximately $5,000. In addition to fixing the traditional marquee, Smith said he also hopes to install a digital one that will tally all of the shows held at the Temple.
Tickets are available during business hours at the Temple at $20 for general admission and $30 for premier seating. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The $30 ticket also includes a meet and greet with Bandy after the concert. To purchase tickets, visit the Temple or call 601-693-5353 or 214-938-5656 during office hours.
