Run for Croom set for June 7
Meridian and Lauderdale County residents are invited to lace up their running shoes as Meridian Police Department hosts its second Run For Croom.
The event, which includes a 3-kilometer run or walk, is held in honor of former MPD officer Kennis Croom, who was shot and killed responding to a domestic violence call on June 9, 2022.
The Run For Croom is set for 10 a.m. June 7 at Bonita Lakes with all proceeds from the race going to the Kennis Croom Memorial Scholarship Benefit Fund.
Registration for the run or walk is $20 with the option to add a shirt commemorating the event for a total of $40. Shirts by themselves are available for $25.
MPD is asking residents to sign up by May 31, however, late registration will be accepted. For more information or to receive a registration form, email Det. Chanetta Stevens at chanettastevens@meridianms.org.
