When a majority of the population has a smartphone, a paper map seems outdated. 

But paper maps have no battery life and can still guide a driver down unfamiliar roads without using an app. 

To prevent travel mishaps, the Mississippi Department of Transportation recommends carrying the 2017 Official Mississippi State Highway map.
