The Show Must Go On: Meridian Mardi Gras ‘After Party’ scheduled for Saturday

The Meridian Mardi Gras After Party – rescheduled from last weekend due to weather — will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. with food vendors, craft and merchandise vendors, the area’s largest Mardi Gras store, and kids’ activities.

The free, day-long event, sponsored by the City of Meridian, provides family-friendly activities for all ages.

Festive Mardi Gras t-shirts will also be available at the Mardi Gras store for $15 for short sleeve and $20 for long sleeve.

The event will also feature live music from Rodrick Fox and the Trio and Aa’Keela and the Beats and a beer garden sponsored by Mitchell Distributing.

“We want everyone to be able to experience all the fun this annual event brings to our community,” said Laura Carmichael, City of Meridian community development director. “We have so many great activities planned and we hope everyone will come out and enjoy the parades, great food, and music in downtown Meridian.”

At noon, the Krewe of Barkus Parade, sponsored by Animal Medical Supply, will feature fury friends dressed in purple and green, followed by the Krewe of Midas Parade, led by the Mardi Gras King and Queen.

Other sponsors include Mitchell Companies, Structural Steel, SeQuel, and Waste Pro.
