Neshoba County sheriff releases names of 2 found dead

Names of two people found dead in Neshoba County have been released.

The bodies of Wendy Johnson, 41, and Harvey Vancleave, 53, both of Neshoba County, were found at Canal Scrap on Highway 15 in Philadelphia, Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell said.

On Tuesday night, Johnson’s body was found in a camper and early Wednesday morning, Vancleave’s body was found in a wooded area not too far from the camper, Waddell said. Vancleave was the owner of the camper, Waddell said.

The victims were dating, Waddell said. Authorities received several domestic calls to the camper residence but could not confirm if the two deaths were caused by a domestic dispute, Waddell said.

Johnson died of strangulation but Vancleave’s cause of the death could not be determined, Waddell said. Vancleave’s body has been taken to the state’s crime lab for an autopsy.

An investigation is ongoing, Waddell said.
