Meridian Frank’s Drive-In murder suspects arrested in Texas
Two suspects in an October murder in Meridian have been arrested in Texas.
Police in Killeen, Texas, executed Meridian arrest warrants Tuesday morning and apprehended Donshay Meundre Sanders and Dystiny Denice Davis, suspects in the Oct. 16 fatal shooting at Frank’s Drive-In.
Sanders, 21, and Davis, 25, both of Meridian, face charges for capital murder, armed robbery and three counts of attempted murder, according to Capt. Erich Morsbach with the Killeen Police Department.
The arrests come after Robert Trout, 52, died and three others were shot during an armed robbery of Frank’s Drive-In, a bar on Fifth Street in Meridian. Sgt. Dareall Thompson with the Meridian Police Department confirmed the connection between the arrests and those crimes.
Thompson said police received a tip about the location of Sanders and Davis and passed it along to the U.S. Marshal’s Service, adding that warrants were issued Friday night and sent to authorities in Killeen.
Morsbach said the department acted off a tip from the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, part of the U.S. Marshals Service, to 1104 North College St. in Killeen, Texas.
After waiting and watching, officers with the department spotted the two suspects, arresting Davis, Sanders and three local residents on unrelated charges, Morsbach said.
The Killeen Police Department had Davis and Sanders in custody as of 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Thompson said police would wait to see if Davis and Sanders would waive extradition or fight it – which could delay the case.
“We do want to express our appreciation for the Killeen Police Department, the U.S. Marshals and the community, they played a big part in solving this case,” said Thompson, who also credited MPD investigators with tracking down the suspects.
“They never slacked on this case or any other case,” he said.
Thompson said the case remains under investigation and more suspects could be identified.
