The Meridian Post Office at 2100 9th Street is extending its business hours on weekdays to help meet the holiday demand for services.

The window will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 17-21, according to a news release from the U.S. Postal Service.

The Postal Service expects to deliver nearly 200 million packages per week during the two weeks that began Dec. 10. The week of Dec. 17-23 is predicted to be the busiest mailing, shipping and delivery week, when nearly 3 billion pieces of First-Class Mail, including greeting cards, will be processed and delivered, accoding to the news release.
