Neshoba Central falls to West Point 20-14 in 5A North State title game

Neshoba Central’s season was cut short Friday as the Rockets fell to West Point 20-14 in the MHSAA Class 5A North State title game at West Point.

Ja’Naylon Dupree had a rushing touchdown for the Rockets, and Elijah Ruffin caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Eli Anderson. Anderson finished 18 of 34 for 319 yards passing, and Ruffin led Neshoba Central in receiving yards with 92 on four catches.

Ken Drummond rushed eight times for 36 yards, and Dupree had two carries for 11 yards while also catching five passes for 75 yards. Bryceton Spencer tallied four receptions for 62 yards, and Dez McWilliams finished with 90 yards on five catches for the Rockets.

Defensively, Jaharon Griffin had 12 solo tackles and four tackles for loss, and Kelbee Holmes finished with nine solo tackles and two tackles for loss. Beau Holley tallied four solo tackles and 1 1/2 tackles for loss, and Maxton Woodward had two tackles for loss, while Ruffin and Le’Damien Jones each had a tackle for loss. Anthony Hopson finished with five solo tackles and seven assists for Neshoba Central.

The Rockets finished the season 12-1.
