Daniel Hill, who wrapped up his final season as the versatile but bruising featured back for Meridian High School’s football team in November, announced his decision to play for the University of Alabama during a nationally televised NBC broadcast from the All-American Bowl on Saturday. On3’s Joseph Hastings reported that Hill has already signed his National Letter of Intent.

“With my skill set and how bad that I want to win, if we put a certain amount of players around me that want the same thing, I feel like we can all come together as a whole and change a program,” Hill told The Meridian Star in early December. “I feel like with my skillset and how hard I work, nobody knows how good I can be, so if I go to college and get around the right people that push me hard enough, I feel like I can change everything about a program.”

The 6-foot, 235-pound football player was a focal point of Meridian’s rushing, passing and special teams attacks who played running back, quarterback, wide receiver and returned kicks during his senior season. In his final season at Meridian, Hill helped lead the Wildcats back to the playoffs for their first postseason trip since 2017 while putting up 2,064 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns, 240 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns, as well three passing touchdowns.

Hill is a consensus 4-star running back by On3, 247Sports and Rivals, and ESPN has him rated as a 4-star athlete. He chose Alabama over offers from numerous other NCAA Division I programs, including South Carolina, Tennessee and Mississippi State. Hill joins Tuscaloosa County 4-star running back Kevin Riley in an Alabama recruiting class ranked second in the nation by On3.
