FOOTBALL ROUNDUP (Oct. 22, 2021): Union defeats Clarkdale for key divisional victory; West Lauderdale, Enterprise get wins

Union quarterback Kenyon Clay hurt Clarkdale through the air and on the ground as the Yellowjackets defeated the Bulldogs 29-8 in Friday night prep football action at Union.
Clay went 7-for-11 for 135 yards and two touchdowns passing, and he also rushed 18 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Carlos Hickmon tallied 112 yards rushing on 20 carries for Union, and Ky’Yon Harris had two catches for 87 yards and a score. Kaleb Casey had three catches for 17 yards and a touchdown, and Xavier Boler tallied two catches for 31 yards.
William Hughlett led Union defensively with six solo tackles, and Nate Killeen and Tristan Wallace each finished with five solo tackles. Hickmon and Eli Rigdon both had four solo tackles for the Yellowjackets.
For Clarkdale, Mason Horne led with 42 yards rushing on eight attempts, and Isaiah Brown finished with 28 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Cal Culpepper rushed 10 times for 25 yards, and he also completed a 10-yard pass to Landon Belk.
Defensively, Belk had seven solo tackles for Clarkdale, while Asher Alsobrooks and Brown each finished with six solo tackles.
Union (4-5, 3-1) is scheduled to play at Morton this week, while Clarkdale (7-3, 1-3) is scheduled to host Southeast Lauderdale for a key Region 5-3A matchup.
WEST LAUDERDALE 43, CHOCTAW CENTRAL 21
JJ Grant rushed 28 times for 379 yards and three touchdowns as West Lauderdale defeated Choctaw Central Friday on the road.
Caleb Collins added 130 yards on 14 carries for the Knights, and Hunter Moore had a 1-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Jackson Parker was 5 of 12 for 57 yards and a touchdown passing, and Brett Busbea caught four passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns.
Dillon Williamson led the Knights defensively with 18 solo tackles and one tackle for loss, and Carson Smith finished with two solo tackles and one tackle for loss, while Jordan Nix had four solo tackles and Hunter Fuller finished with six solo tackles. Dalton Bishop also had six solo tackles, and Commondre Cole tallied five solo tackles and two tackles for loss, while Jake Rodgers had two solo tackles and one tackle for loss. Eli Bates chipped in with four solo tackles, and Chris Griffith had a tackle for loss for West Lauderdale.
The Knights (8-1, 4-0) are scheduled to host Northeast Lauderdale this week to conclude the regular season.
ENTERPRISE 48, SOUTHEAST LAUDERDALE 14
Derryon Gray was 4-for-5 for 110 yards and a touchdown passing and also scored two rushing touchdowns as the Bulldogs beat Southeast Lauderdale Friday at Southeast Lauderdale.
Gray finished with two carries for 70 yards, and Zee Sims had four rushes for 53 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs while also attached three catches for 95 yards and a score. Jayce Gunn and Tanner Sanders also had rushing touchdowns for Enterprise.
Gavyn Dear finished with 10 solo tackles and two tackles for loss for Enterprise, and Parks Burt had four solo tackles, while Nathan Bailey, Ryland Heathcock, Timothy Miller and Blake Wilkins each had a tackle for loss.
Southeast Lauderdale finished with 260 yards passing and 29 yards rushing.
Enterprise (9-0, 4-0) is scheduled to host Forest this week to conclude the regular season, while Southeast Lauderdale (1-8, 0-4) is scheduled to play at Clarkdale.
