Military Appreciation Day set for MCM-Meridian

The Mississippi Children’s Museum–Meridian is set to host Military Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13.

amming and special guests, all aimed at providing memorable experiences for military families in attendance.

During Military Appreciation Day, guests can participate in a variety of activities, such as exploring a Naval Air Station Meridian fire truck and meeting Sparky the Fire Dog mascot; visiting exhibitor booths featuring Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Montgomery Institute, Key Field Air National Guard Base and NAS Meridian. In self-guided activities, they can create a po

ppy, build a soldier or sailor and design their family’s patch.

Col. Cindy Smith, commander of the 186th Air Refueling Wing at Key Field, will be the guest for storytime at 11 a.m.

Kristine Davis from NAS Meridian will be the guest for the afternoon storytime at 2 p.m.

Guests can also engage in a read-aloud and a hands-on activity based on the book “The Dandelion Seed,” a best-selling picture book by Joseph Anthony that introduces plant life cycles while reminding readers to let go and embrace change.
