- Bill Graham / The Meridian StarPolice are investigating a Wednesday night double murder in Meridian after two bodies were found on 22nd Street and 44th Avenue, said Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler.
Meridian police are investigating a Wednesday night double homicide.
Police responded around 7:30 p.m. at 22nd Street and 44th Avenue and found two male victims, one inside a car and the other outside the car, according to Meridian Police Dept. Capt. John Griffith.
The victim found outside of the car was the driver, Griffith said.
Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said the victims were both black males in their 20s and both died from gunshots. The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
Griffith said it appears the victims knew each other, but it’s unclear what led to the shootings. Griffith said investigators believe a third person was in the car with the men when the shootings occurred.
“We are treating it like a homicide until it tells us otherwise,” Griffith said.
